The Creighton Typo3 trainers do an excellent job of covering this in the Typo3 class. You can find it in the handout from that class on page 16. If you cannot find your copy you may download one from here (pdf, doc). The class is also available in Bluetrain.
This is to copy/move only one content element or one page at a time. Please see Typo3's clipboard and content or Typo3's clipboard and pages for information on how to do this with several content elements or several pages at one time. Typo3's clipboard and files shows how to use the clipboard to move, copy or even delete many files at once.
To copy a page or content element from the list view. Click the "Copy" icon directly to the left of the little scissors icon.
Then go to the page you wish to add the content to. Remember that in List, you see not only all content on the page you have chosen but all it's subpages. And you can copy/move your content to any of these subpages as well as to below any of the content on the current page, without having to leave the current page. You won't be able to choose where on the subpages it inserts, it will always paste at the top of all content when you do it this way.
To insert the content onto a subpage of the current page, just click the insert icon with the right facing arrow. This will place the content element at the top of that subpage.
To insert the content at the top of the current page, click the insert icon in the header of "Pagecontent".
You can also insert the content below one or more of the current content elements on the page.
When copying or moving content and if you have the Clipboard open (it is not necssary to have clipboard open when you copy or move a single content element) you will see the element listed in the "Normal" area of the clipboard.
If you wish you can clear the clipboard by clicking the small square next to the copied element's name. You can also get some information about the content by clicking the little blue octagon with an i in it. For more information on Information see [List Action Icons - Display Information ].
The steps for moving content is the same as for copying content except that you would click the cut icon (small scissors) rather than the copy icon. Use the directions above to insert your content into another area of the same page or onto a new page.
