Pagetree overview will give you up to 3 levels with 3 different views of basic information on the pages in your site. In the list module we covered adding fields to the list so that you can do a quick edit on page properties. Some of these are automatically included here, so you do not have to add to the list module to edit them.

No matter what type of overview you choose (basic, cache and age, record overview), Typo3 will display information at the bottom of the list for the current page you have highlighted in the pagetree.
Let's say you have a page that you have used to create a shortcut to another page within your site. Then you realize you needed it to be a link to a site outside your site. Finally, you realize, geeze no, I need to make it a standard page and put content on it.
Does Typo3 delete the previous setting for shortcut or external URL? No, it retains them. So if you change back to shortcut or external URL, the settings for the page the shortcut was for and the external URL is still there.
This is why when you look at information for that page (Info Module and Display information) you will often see properties for a previous page type.
Typo3 describes "Basic Settings" as "Displays a selection of fields from page records which are regarded as foundational setting for pages... "
Actually they are pretty much spot on in this description.
You can see the page you are currently on in the pagetree or you can see up to 3 levels below.
NOTE: usually not all of the fields will have data. Some of the fields (Shortcut to page and URL for example) are for two separate types of pages (Shortcut and Link to external URL). If you change the page type, Typo3 will retain the previous information so it is possible to have fields populated that are not currently in use (see above). Each field has an edit icon (pencils). Check here more informtion on the Quick edit in the info view.
This displays cache and time settings. Although each field has an "edit" icon (pencils), only admins can edit some of these fields, TSconfig for example. If you click on the edit (pencil) icon for TSconfig you will get a blank workarea. Check here more informtion on the Quick edit in the info view.
