Almost all the tutorials out there are geared toward an administrator, not a user. I did find a few links though. If you find anything useful, I'd be very interested in hearing about it.

Drupals "home" is http://drupal.org/ there you will find documentation as well as an extensive community where you can ask questions (I have!). They also have a beginners cookbook which shows everything about setting up a simple site. Please note that some of the topics cover administrative aspects of Drupal, and you may not have access to this.
