typo3 offers a lot of different ways to work with your site (sometimes it's too many ways).  There are 3 different modules that allow you to work with the content on your pages.  I almost said there are 3 ways to work with the content on your pages, but that's not entirely true.  I'm not too sure of the complete count but I think it's closer to 12 ways to work with your content.

In addition to the modules, you can do quite a bit from the Page Tree (literally the tree of your pages).  The page tree is the structure of your site.  Often it creates the menu that allow navigation through your site.
