DoIT_Official Messaging Information
In our continued efforts to combat phishing and other scam messages, the University has added another layer to make it easier for email recipients to identify legitimate messages from scams.

Legitimate messages from IT regarding issues such as password expiration or similar high sensitivity items will be sent from the email address of “DoIT_Official”.

What this means is:

1. If you receive an email reporting problems with your account or password and it does not come from DoIT_Official you will immediately know it is suspicious and you may want to consult with the DoIT Service Desk.
2. If you receive a message from DoIT_Official, there is a high likelihood that the message is legitimate but you need to look for other signs that it could still indicate the message is suspect. Creighton IT will never ask you to visit a non-Creighton website to resolve system problems; Creighton will never ask you to reply to an email message with personal information, especially not to a non-Creighton email address; Creighton will never ask you to send or submit your password or other sensitive personal information in order to solve an IT problem or complete an IT upgrade; we don’t know your password and will never need it to resolve IT issues.
Any of these situations are indicators that the message is not legitimate no matter who sends the message.

As always, NEVER give out your password for any reason. DoIT will NEVER ask you for your password.

Contact the Support Desk (x1111) if you have questions or concerns about the legitimacy of any email message.
