Watch streaming media files
Once you have successfully uploaded your media files, you will want to watch them. This is how to do that.
Get Windows Media Player
If you have a computer running Microsoft Windows, you will have a copy of the Microsoft Windows Media Player. We recommend you have at least WMP 9, but encourage you to use WMP 10, if possible.
Download Windows Media Player 10
System Requirements for WMP 10 (Windows XP only)
Windows Media Player 9 (Windows XP, 98 SE, Me, 2000)
Windows Media Player 9 (Mac OS X)
Note: For offline viewing, Macintosh users should install the Flip4Mac Quicktime plugin from Telestream. This is now the official, supported solution for Windows Media on the Macintosh, as per this page from Microsoft.
What is the URL of your media?
With your media files uploaded, you can watch them by putting the URL to those files into either your web browser, or directly into Windows Media Player.
What is that URL?
It will look like this:
mms://winstream.creighton.edu/your NetID/your file
So, for example, if your Net ID is bbj12345, and the file you uploaded is called mygreatmovie.wmv, the URL to that movie would look like this:
mms://winstream.creighton.edu/bbj12345/mygreatmovie.wmv
Please note, to stream your file, you must use "mms://" instead of the more familiar "http://" at the beginning of your URL.
Still unable to watch?
If you are sure you have the URL and the player correct, and still cannot see your video or listen ot your audio, please call the Service Desk at (402) 280-1111.
