Postini Tutorial - Understanding Postini
How Postini Works
When someone sends an e-mail to a Creighton address, the first place it comes to at Creighton is the Postini server. Here it is routed to one of two places. If it is found to be free of viruses and does not look like junk mail, then it is sent to the person at Creighton that it was intended for.
However, if it has a virus or looks like junk mail, then it is sent to a website. A message is then sent to the person it was addressed to notifying them that there is mail at the website for them. The mail recipient can view the mail at the website without ever infecting their own computer. If it is junk mail or mail that they need, they can delete it directly at the website, or they can opt to deliver it to their e-mail.
Logging In
There are two ways to get to the Postini log in screen. The easiest way is to access it from the e-mail that is sent to you when you have something that has been "captured" by Postini. The e-mail message includes a link to the website where your messages have been quarantined.
Another way to access Postini is to open a browser and go to http://www.postini.com. In small letters at the bottom of the page, it says "log in". This is what the log in screen looks like.

Your login Address is your net id, followed by @creighton.edu. Your password is the password you used to establish this account.
The next step is learning how to use and customize Postini.
