VPN Tutorial - Mapping a Network Drive

Setting up from Work

When you are at home, wanting to connect to the network on campus, you will need to "map a network drive". This section will describe how to do that.

The first step must be done at work.

In the Drive field, use the drop down arrow to find the drive you want to map. You will see something like V:\\adminfin\jdoe. Write down the information that is located after the drive letter, starting with the two slashes. In this case, I would write down \\adminfin\jdoe. You will need to type this information in exactly when you are mapping your drive from home.

Then click Cancel. Go on to the next page to see the steps to follow at home.

Setting up at Home

Now that you are home and you have established your VPN connection (Remember, Start>Programs>Easy Access VPN Client>Easy Access Dialer...) you are ready to map a drive to the network to access your material. Just follow these steps.

The first steps were done at work, these steps need to be done at home.

Then click on finish. Now you should be able to retrieve and work on files to the Creighton network over a secure connection.
