Tornado Preparedness Drill Set for March 21

Recent deadly twisters in the Midwest remind us all that Creighton University must be prepared for a variety of emergency situations and conducting periodic campus-wide drills is essential to effective crisis planning. The University will hold a mock tornado drill in conjunction with Douglas County on Wednesday, March 21 at 10:10 a.m.

A CUAlert will be issued and Douglas County sirens will sound across the city. Students, faculty and staff will be asked to take appropriate action, including going to the nearest shelter area. We anticipate the entire exercise will last about 10 minutes. The hospital, medical and dental clinics will not participate in the test as they already have their own emergency drills in place.

No matter if you are in class or in your office, action should be taken. Know your shelter location and go there immediately. Creighton community members are also reminded to sign up for CUAlert, our emergency notification system, at http://www.creighton.edu/cualert/.
