About the Staff
ICC Coordinator Vanessa Rodriguez graduated from Creighton in May of 2012 with a degree in psychology and anthropology. She spent the majority of her educational career working with children and families in need. While at Creighton, Vanessa worked as a mentor and summer camp leader for Girl Scouts.
After graduation, she gained employment as a family support worker for Beneficial Behavioral Health Services. As a family support worker, she worked with low-income Latino families whose kids were wards of the state. Vanessa helped these families find community resources and learn to provide their children with basic necessities, while motivating them to strive for something better.
As a first generation student from a low-income Latino family, Vanessa knows exactly how difficult it is to grow up with limited options. Her fluency in Spanish is an important asset, given that 52% of the ICC participants are Latino and come from Spanish-speaking families.
