Bidong Tot wins ODK Award

Annually Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) members recognize outstanding, behind the scenes leaders during Founders Week. This year Bidong Tot was selected as the sophomore recipient of the Rev. Thomas N. Schloemer, S.J. Outstanding Student Leader Award. Who is Bidong Tot? A better question may be who doesn’t know who Bidong is? Bidong is a member of CUASA and CULSA. He is a member of the Pre-Physical Therapy club. He has volunteered over 50 hours for VNA. He also ushers and volunteers at his Omaha church.  He is a member of Jays 4 Christ.. Bidong’s real passion is for soccer. He loves playing on a team as well as being a referee. Bidong is unique. Everything he does is to his fullest ability. For example, SSS requires five requirements each semester for each participant.  Bidong consistently does 10-15 additional requirement. Last Fall, there was a “Bidong contest” which consisted of first year students competing to out do Bidong’s first year record of attending events and completing requirements. SSS keeps an access data base that posts every contact the office has with every student. Most students have five or ten per semester; while Bidong had 75 contacts during his first semester at Creighton and continues that each semester. Bidong is quiet, but everyone knows him. He has made a big impression on our new first year students without trying to or realizing that he has done so. Bidong is from the Sudan. Many of the SSS staff have various people contact them for his phone number, so he can talk with different groups about Sudan. He also has assisted the Multicultural Office with many functions. Bidong works with all the professional staff members of Markoe Hall by assisting other fellow students. Bidong has one of the most genuine hearts, always willing to help others, by offering help to his friends and acquaintances, not to mention his wonderful academic drive and integrity.

Congratulations Bidong Tot!
