Radiology for Dental Assistants
The Radiology for Dental Assistants course will be presented by Lisa Kucera, RDH and Laura Grabow, RDH. This course is approved by the Nebraska Board of Dental Examiners and the renewal of registration in the State of Iowa. This is a 2 day live course that takes place at Creighton University. Day 1 includes lectures and Day 2 includes a hands on skills assessment and a written quiz. As a prerequisite for the course, dental office experience is preferred and participants must be 18 years of age or older.
Method of Teaching: Lecture/discussion, manikin clinical participation
Class Schedule: Check in will start at 7:30 a.m. both days and the course will run from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Friday will be spent in lecture and Saturday will include a quiz and hands on sessions.
- Identify the properties and characteristics of the radiation beam and the factors involved in quality imaging
- Understand radiation safety measures
- Recognize and use radiographic landmarks
- Take and mount a full-mount set of radiographs
- Be familiar with the state regulations and legal aspects of dental radiology
