Purpose of JayWalk
To strengthen the relationship between the Omaha's Jesuit Institutions of Learning and the community while fulfilling the continuing financial needs of Jesuit Middle School.
Jaywalk is also an opportunity for Creighton Students to involve themselves in the wider community. Every year Jaywalk has numerous Creighton students volunteer to help run the race and register entrants. If you would like to volunteer email csusa@creighton.edu.
Who Benefits?
JayWalk is sponsored by the Creighton Students Union in cooperation with Creighton University and Creighton Preparatory High School Student Council, with all proceeds directly benefiting the Jesuit Middle School of Omaha.
About the Race
The race was initially created to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Creighton University and the special relationship that all three of Omaha's Jesuit Schools share. The Jesuit Middle School provides a comprehensive quality education to 4th-8th grade African American students through gospel teaching, academic excellence, self-discipline, religious diversity, and the value of being men-for-others. The Jesuit Middle School is committed to supporting the students as they claim ownership of their lives and grow into responsible leaders.
CSU is proud to say that over the JayWalk history nearly $50,000.00 dollars has been donated towards student scholarships, facilities and a new gymnasium floor. With the help of local sponsorships and businesses across the nation, Jaywalk was able to raise $10,360.00 last year alone!
This year will mark the 7th anniversary of the JayWalk 5k run/walk and we hope that you will join us in this wonderful tradition. The 5K run/walk will be Saturday, September 19, 2009 starting at Creighton's Deglman Circle and ending at the Morrison Soccer Stadium.
