Purpose and Scope

[Excerpt from University Statutes, Article III, Section 1, Part F]

  1. Committee on Faculty Handbook and the University Statutes
    1. Purpose:
      1. To receive and/or develop proposed revisions to the Faculty Handbook.
      2. To develop procedures for the orderly review and revision of the University Statutes.
      3. To receive and/or develop proposals for change in the Statutes and to make recommendations to the President for appropriate action.
      4. To maintain the University Statutes in current and operational form on a regular basis.
      5. To review the bylaws of each of the Colleges and Schools concerning their compatibility with these Statutes.
      6. To maintain compatibility between the Faculty Handbook and University Statutes.
    2. Membership:
      1. Three administrators shall be appointed by the President.
      2. One member of the faculty shall be elected by the faculty- at-large from each of the Schools and Colleges, excluding the Graduate School and University College and Summer Sessions.
      3. Members shall serve three-year staggered terms.
      4. The Chair of the Committee shall be one of those members appointed by the President.
      5. The Chair shall vote only in case of a tie.
    3. Procedures:
      The Committee will handle revisions to the Faculty Handbook and the University Statutes in accordance with the provisions of Article VI of the Statutes.
    4. Meetings:
      The Committee on Faculty Handbook and University Statutes will meet at the call of the Chair, but at least once each semester, to consider amendments to the Faculty Handbook and to the University Statutes.
