Title IX
Title IX (1972)- "No person in the U.S. shall, on the basis of sex be excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal aid." (Section 1681. Sex)
Title IX is commonly thought of as pertaining only to athletics. However, the law is actually much broader. Title IX prohibits gender discrimination in all programs and activities of a university.
What does Title IX cover?
- Sexual Misconduct (including sexual violence)
- Sexual Harassment
- Gender Discrimination
- Retaliation for reporting acts of discrimination listed above
What do you need to know?
If you or someone you know at Creighton has experienced any of the prohibited behaviors listed above, you have the right to file an internal complaint with the University.
There are resources and support available to all Creighton community members.
