Three BIG EAST schools whose mascots are birds are coming together to encourage alumni and undergraduate students to donate to their institutions.
Creighton’s own Billy Bluejay has challenged two other BIG EAST schools with bird mascots – Marquette University and St. John’s University – to a Battle of the Beaks.
The challenge is simple--the university with the highest participation of alumni and student giving between Feb. 19 and the beginning of the BIG EAST tournament, March 12, wins.
Special mailings, web postings, videos and email blasts are part of the battle. Progress will be tracked and more information is available at battleofthebeaks.org.
All gifts during the three-week battle will count toward Creighton’s overall participation, but the main focus will be the Creighton Fund, the annual fund that enables Creighton students to contribute something meaningful to the world. No matter the size, gifts to the Creighton Fund help provide financial aid to Creighton students.
Anyone can demonstrate Bluejay pride by helping Creighton build its nest and demonstrate to feathered friends from other BIG EAST schools the care and concern of the Creighton community.
