Church Project

To Respect and Welcome

Nothing in Creightonís mission is more important than encouraging the faithful to actively participate in the life of the Church.  For generations of students, alumni, families and friends, St. Johnís Church is at the heart of the campus, and is the heart of Creighton Universityís mission. For 125 years we have gathered in this historic landmark to celebrate milestone moments in the lives of members of the Creighton community.

A west-wing expansion is now under way to enable St. Johnís to better serve all who come here.

A key component of the expansion plans is an elevator, available from the Con Agra Plaza parking lot. This will enable the elderly, those with disabilities and families with young children to have easier access and be able to participate in activities in all levels of the church.

Consider that:

  • One in every five people who comes to St. Johnís is over the age of 65 and the rate of growth for this age group far exceeds the growth rate of the population as a whole

  • As our church family has grown, so has the number of people who require special accommodations, including the elderly, new and expectant mothers, young children and others who find stairs difficult or impossible.

  • Mirroring the general population, 18 percent of people entering St. Johnís Church require assistance, and half of them require the use of a cane, crutches or walker.

OíKeefe Elevator Co., is partnering with us by donating an elevator. You can help make the West Wing Expansion a reality with your donation.  Please share in our vision of a fully-accessible St.  Johnís Church that meets the needs of our community, both young and old.
