Student Embark on Educational Journey
Creighton University welcomed just shy of 1,000 new students to campus, most of whom moved into residence halls in mid August. Move-in was just the beginning of a week-long schedule of activities planned for the new students.
A highlight of the week was “The Creighton Pathway.” The academic procession takes the incoming freshmen on a symbolic walk from St. John’s Church, the spiritual heart of campus, down the campus mall to the D.J. Sokol Arena for the President’s Academic Convocation, their formal academic introduction to the University. Watch a video of Welcome Week.
“Creighton University continues to attract students who not only are exceptionally bright and talented but committed to involvement in their school and community. I am especially pleased that we have more regional and national geographical diversity than most Midwestern universities,” said Timothy R. Lannon, S.J., president.
In fact their academic profile places Creighton among the top 10 private universities in the Midwest with more than 4,000 undergraduates. But students also are involved in service and community. Read more about the class profile.
Assuring that deserving students have the opportunity to experience the Creighton difference is important to us. And with more than 90 percent of our students receiving some form of financial aid, donors who provide scholarships or other gifts make an immediate impact on helping to see they come here and are successful.
