ProQuest/UMI Submission
UMI Thesis/Dissertation Submission
Effective September 2009, all students must submit their approved thesis/dissertation to UMI/ProQuest, which is a dissertation publishing service. UMI/ProQuest also provides graduate students electronic access to its extensive database of graduate works. Students will now order bound copies of their thesis/dissertation through the UMI website. The Graduate School will no longer provide binding services.
Directions:
1. Follow the format/page order guidelines.
2. Once the thesis/dissertation has been approved, have all committee members sign the signature page (sample here) and drop the signed page off in the Graduate School Office (Creighton Hall Rm 132). Once the Graduate Dean has signed the page, a scanned copy (PDF) will be emailed to you.
3. Insert this signature page into your thesis/dissertation in the appropriate location.
4. Convert the thesis/dissertation to PDF format. Note: Your thesis/dissertation must be submitted to UMI/ProQuest as ONE PDF. There are directions on the UMI website if you need assistance with this.
5. Access UMI's website: http://www.etdadmin.com/creighton.edu
6. Click on Submit My Dissertation/Thesis and follow the directions on the website.
7. Please note: On the Publishing Options page, you will need to choose either Traditional Publishing or Open Access. Note the cost for each. It is up to you, the student, which one to choose. Check with your department to see if they will cover any of these costs - the submission fee and/or binding fees.
8. You will be given the option to have copies bound and mailed to you through UMI's system.
9. The Graduate School will authorize the student's ProQuest/UMI submission (the student's advisor must have confirmed that the student has met all requirements for graduation). The thesis/dissertation will then be available on ProQuest and also on Creighton University's electronic warehouse, Bluebrary.
