This course of study is designed for those interested in advanced careers in meteorology or the environment. Students will receive education and experience that could lead to work with agencies such as the National Weather Service, the United States Air Force Weather Service, state, local and federal regulatory agencies and various environmental and meteorological research organizations. Duration: Two years full time

Number of Credits Required: Students are required to take at least 15 credit hours from either core track, plus a minimum of 18 credit hours of 600-Level and above course work.

Cost: $650 per credit hour (2009-2010 rate), plus university and technology fees.

Program Start: August, January, June

Preferred Application Deadline: Applications are accepted at any time. Domestic students should have an application completed by: August 1 for fall, December 1 for spring and May 1 for summer entry. International students should apply at least three months in advance of anticipated start date in order to get all paperwork processed. Teaching and research assistantships are offered with fall admission only. In order to be considered for an assistantship, a completed application must be on file by March 1.

Admissions Requirements:
Applicants holding a Bachelor of Science degree in atmospheric science, physics, or related natural and/or physical sciences, with a GPA of at least 3.0 are preferred. A cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 is required.

Applicants should submit the following:

1.  Application: a completed form and non-refundable application fee
2. A Statement of Interest: An essay of up to 1000 words outlining your reasons for attending graduate school, specific areas or fields of interest and future career plans.
3. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores
4. Transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
5. Three letters of recommendation: The recommendations should be completed and submitted by persons other than family members who are capable of assessing an applicant’s performance in an academic or work setting.
6. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). All international applicants from countries in which English is not the primary language must demonstrate proficiency in the English language by submitting a minimum TOEFL score of 80 iBT (213 CBT/550 PBT). International applicants who received their baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited institution in the U.S., United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or Africa (English-speaking only) are not required to submit a TOEFL score report.
