The Creighton University School of Medicine Anesthesiology Interest Group (AIG) seeks to foster interest towards the field of anesthesiology while giving medical students a perspective of the specialty that is otherwise not covered in the routine medical school curriculum. The AIG also endeavors to offer mentoring partnerships and to have discussions about topics relevant to the specialty, such as subspecialties, career and lifestyle issues, and hands-on procedural experiences which help students to develop the skills needed within the profession.
The AIG is made up of officers who are mostly M3s and M4s along with the rest of the medical students at-large. We are interested in trying to pass down newly learned information from the residency application process to upcoming classmates, as well as learning more about the field of Anesthesiology while doing so. We try to put together multiple meetings each year to meet new M1 and M2 students, so that they are exposed to Anesthesiology at an earlier time in the curriculum and can develop the mentoring and or shadowing experiences as they see fit.
You can subscribe to the AIG list-serve via Creighton's webmail at the link below. Those members of the AIG will have priority over non-members when it comes to skills sessions when spots are limited (intubation sessions, IV sessions etc).
