The death penalty is the ultimate, irreversible denial of human rights. By working towards the abolition of the death penalty worldwide, Amnesty International USA's Death Penalty Abolition Campaign looks to end the cycle of violence created by a system riddled with economic and racial bias and tainted by human error.

We hold that the death penalty is inherently a destruction of human rights.  In the United States, it is more routinely used against impoverished persons and persons of color.  It generates a cycle of violence, rather than end the murder and hate proponents claim it generates.

Furthermore, the system for death penalty in the United States is riddled with errors, including false evidence and methods that destroy human dignity.

How much do you actually know about the death penalty?  Take the quiz to find out.
