Events
Creighton College Democrats are always getting involved with our party and community. Feel free to join us for any of our activities. If you'd like more details contact the officer or member mentioned.
Canvassing
This past year we helped many candidates get their information out to voters. We worked with the Esch, Kleeb, Obama, and Nordquist. Many Saturdays during the election season were devoted to talking with community members door to door and distributing literature about these great candidates. Some great stories were told afterwards about the amazing and the difficult people we met in our adventures.
Election Night and Inauguration
On the election night this past November, we hosted a Election Viewing Night in the Harper Center with CSU and the Young Republicans. Food was provided and excitement was had by all students who stopped by to see how their favorite candidates were doing. For the Inauguration this spring we also hosted a viewing party in the Skutt Student Center. We offered free coffee to all students, staff, faculty and visitors. The night before we decorated the sidewalks around the KFC and Skutt Student Center with "OBAMA, BIDEN!" and hope symbols from the campaign. We were thrilled to know that we had been apart of this historical event. We also had the local media covering our event and participation.

Community Partner: The HOPE Center
The HOPE Center found in Omaha, NE is "Breaking the cycle of hopelessness and providing refuge the for Omaha's inner-city youth through faith, education, employment, and collaboration." Members help the Center once every week by working with their after school program. They help with homework, play games, and learn new things with the youth during clubs. It's a great way to spend a couple hours.
NYD Conference
Creighton was this year's proud host of the Nebraska Young Democrat Conference on April 4th, 2009. State delegates voted on constitutional amendments and officers. Our very own Brian Martens was elected as the Vice President. Sam Huppert was elected as the National Commiteeman, and Sylvia Bartel will be the 3rd District Chairperson. We were very excited to support all our members in their pursuits to hold office in the state program. At the end of the conference phone banking was done for the Jim Suttle Campaign for Mayor. The event was finished off with some tasty pizza at Sam & Louis.
Creighton Campus
You can see our group all around campus too. We have tables at the Involvement fairs, bring speakers, and often put up displays about issues our community and country are facing today. We also have weekly meetings in which we invite anyone who is interested to attend. Feel free to stop by at any of our events around campus. We'd love to see you!
