OCCA and Chinese language study schools in Omaha area are proud to host a Full Moon Festival celebration picnic in Zorinsky Park on Sunday, October 4th, starting 1:00pm to …. whenever. Bring your families and friends and join us for a fun celebration in the beautiful Zorinsky park! Surrounded by families, friends and love ones, we promise that you will enjoy the delicious foods, exciting games, seeing old friends and meeting new ones!


BBQ and drinks will be provided by OCCA. Exciting games organized BY kids and FOR kids and families will definitely attract and sustain your kids’ attention as well as yours! Bring your bikes, sports, fishing poles and games to the fun!


You are encouraged to bring delicious signature food to share, as well as for a chance to win prizes for the first, second and third mostly loved food by our community! To ensure everyone have the chance to taste and try different food, please bring enough to feed your own family and friends.

Omaha Chinese Culture Association, Chinese Students and Scholars Associations at Creighton University, University of Nebraska at Omaha, and University of Nebraska Medical Center, and the local businesses proudly present an exciting and a culturally vibrant Chinese New Year’s celebration on Feb 7th, 2009 at the Omaha Christ Community Church.  The event will include Chinese food, traditional Chinese cultural performances, kids activities, arts and craft sales, door prizes and much more.

Saturday, February 7th, 2009
4:30 pm until 6:30 pm
Kids cultural activities, Kung Fu and Tai Chi demo, calligraphy, Chinese consume photography, gifts and crafts sales

6:30 pm  until 9:00 pm
Dinner, live cultural performances (including traditional New Year lion dance, Taiji Fan, ethnic dances, GuZheng, Wushu, and additional performances from local Chinese                   community), and prizes

As the 2009 Chinese New Year is drawing near, the Creighton CSSA, in collaboration with the CSSA at UNMC and UNO, and OCCA, will be organizing a Chinese New Year party on Jan 24 2009. We also welcome our American friends in Omaha community to join us to celebrate this traditional Chinese holiday. More details will be coming soon.

10/16/2008 - Chinese Culture Night & Fundraising Dinner Ticket Information

Due to popular demand, we're excited to announce that individual tickets for the dinner event are now available for public purchase as of 10/1!  There are limited quantities of tickets available for advance purchase. ADVANCED PURCHASED ONLY. NO on-site ticket sales. 
Event Updates:

In addition to the sponsoring companies that are listed in OCCA News Release, we have also received significant support from local communities and government officials.  Congressman Lee Terry and Lt. Governor Rick Sheehy will be among the attendees at our event.  Our featured speaker for the event, Dr. Cunyu Wu, is the Director-general of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation.  This is the largest and most well-known Chinese charitable foundation.  Mr. Owens Lei from  Channel 7 (KETV) will be the event MC, and Ms. Carol Wang from Channel 3 (KPTM) will join us during the dinner.  We thank them for their support!

Omaha Chinese Family Culture Night, Jun 27 2008

A total of $2108.13 raised in Omaha Chinese Family Culture Night event was sent to China Education Development Foundation via the Education Office of China Embassy in  Washington DC. The donation will be used in rebuilding schools and helping the students in China earthquake area. Below is the reply from Mr. JingAn Zhang of Education Office of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the USA.

Omaha Chinese Culture Family Night on June 27, 2008

Thanks to all of our volunteers and supporters.  Despite the bad weather and a power outage during the entire event, over 70% of our guests participated in our Chinese culture family night event on June 27th.

President of International Division of Valmont Industries Inc, Victor D. Grizzle, commented in his email to one of the event hosts, LiQin Kephart:

"...my daughters really enjoyed the event…it made them feel they were back in Shanghai where they have many fond memories.  Thanks for your efforts for such as noble cause….and again, congratulations on a successful event!"

The event was to raise money for helping the victims of the May 12th China Earthquake.  The event included:  dinner, Chinese culture performances, kids games, silent auctions, raffles, and sales.  The event organizers including LiBin Pan, the Chinese Student/Scholar Associations at UNO, UNMC and Creighton University (CSSA), the Omaha Chinese Culture Association (OCCA) and Omaha Chinese Language Schools.  The event sponsors included:  the Christ Community Church, ConAgra Foods,  Bellevue University, Omaha Chinese Christian Church (OCCC) and many local Chinese restaurants and businesses.

China Earthquake Relief Donation, June 2, 2008

Creighton CSSA has received $3,445 monetary donation in earthquake relief fundraiser from 35 students, postdoc fellows, staff and faculty members. The donation has been sent to Hong Kong Red Cross China Relief Fund.
