Omaha Chinese Culture Family Night on June 27, 2008
Thanks to all of our volunteers and supporters. Despite the bad weather and a power outage during the entire event, over 70% of our guests participated in our Chinese culture family night event on June 27th.
President of International Division of Valmont Industries Inc, Victor D. Grizzle, commented in his email to one of the event hosts, LiQin Kephart:
"...my daughters really enjoyed the event…it made them feel they were back in Shanghai where they have many fond memories. Thanks for your efforts for such as noble cause….and again, congratulations on a successful event!"
The event was to raise money for helping the victims of the May 12th China Earthquake. The event included: dinner, Chinese culture performances, kids games, silent auctions, raffles, and sales. The event organizers including LiBin Pan, the Chinese Student/Scholar Associations at UNO, UNMC and Creighton University (CSSA), the Omaha Chinese Culture Association (OCCA) and Omaha Chinese Language Schools. The event sponsors included: the Christ Community Church, ConAgra Foods, Bellevue University, Omaha Chinese Christian Church (OCCC) and many local Chinese restaurants and businesses.

Fundraiser Event for the China Earthquake Relief

Time: 6:00 – 9:00 PM Friday, June 27th, 2008
(Dinner, kids' game, Chinese calligraphy and character writing demonstrations, silent auction: 6:00 – 7:30PM; Performance: 7:30 – 8:30 followed by auction results)
Tickets: $5 (child3-11), $10(12 and up)
Proceeds from item sales and the silent auction at the event will benefit the families that were victimized by the SiChuan earthquake on May 12th. This event is organized by the CSSA (Chinese Students and Scholars Association) at Creighton University, the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and the University of Nebraska -Omaha and the OCCA (Omaha Chinese Culture Association). Event sponsors include: ConAgra Foods, Bellevue University, OCCA and other local businesses.
