(SPAHP-PP)
Pre-Matriculation
This is an eight-week program that will commence the 1st Monday in June. Please call the department for the starting date.
Program Description
Gaining admission to the pharmacy program is an important milestone, and the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions (SPAHP) is committed to helping every student who enters our program achieve their academic best. While professional education often brings its own unique set of challenges, opportunities for success abound. Since 2006, the SPAHP has collaborated with the University’s Health Science Multicultural and Community Affairs office (HS-MACA) to provide an academic enrichment and success program for educationally disadvantaged students who have been accepted into the School’s Doctor of Pharmacy program.
This 8-week summer experience, called the SPAHP Pre-Matriculation Program or SPAHP-PP provides students academic enrichment in biology, chemistry and math, while enhancing reading and writing skills. SPAHP-PP also offers guidance in the academic and personal skills necessary to succeed in pharmacy coursework. In addition to formal instruction, students have the opportunity to participate in seminars, shadow mentor pharmacists and experience Creighton’s unique community of caring and culture of success.
At the conclusion of the program students will have gained a solid foundation in the fundamentals essential for success in the Doctor of Pharmacy program, be aware of all of the resources available to support and assist them, make friends and feel at home in the Creighton and Omaha communities
