Program Description
Gaining admission to a health science professional program is an important milestone, and the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions (SPAHP) is committed to helping every student who enters our program achieve their academic best. While professional education often brings its own unique set of challenges, opportunities for success abound. Since 2006, the SPAHP has collaborated with the University’s Health Science Multicultural and Community Affairs office (HS-MACA) to provide an academic enrichment and success program for educationally disadvantaged students who, upon completion of required summer coursework, will be accepted into the School’s Doctor of PharmacyDoctor of Occupational Therapy or Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
This 8-week summer experiencebegins on the first Monday in June. Called the SPAHP Pre-Matriculation Program or SPAHP-PP, this program provides students academic enrichment through targeted coursework biology, chemistry,math, begins on the first Monday in June. SPAHP-PP also offers guidance with personal skills necessary to succeed in the professional curriculum. In addition to formal instruction, students have the opportunity to participate in seminars, shadow mentor practitioners and experience Creighton’s unique community of caring and culture of success.
At the conclusion of the program students will have gained a solid foundation in the fundamentals essential for success in their professional program of study, be aware of all of the resources available to support and assist them, make friends and feel at home in the Creighton and Omaha communities

Course Evaluation Criteria:
Successful completion will require consistent, engaged participation in all classes. Academic success counseling, individualized advising and tutoring services are made available to help ensure your success.
Financial Aspects:
The tuition costs of the summer SPAHP-PP will be covered by the Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. Participants are responsible for their own living expenses. Scholarships will be awarded for successful completion of the graded SPAHP-PP courses, and may be renewed if good academic standing in the professional program of study is maintained.
