Creating Accounts: RefWorks and RefAware

Write-N-Cite for RefWorks

  • Write-N-Cite is a small helper program for Microsoft Word.  Once installed you will be able to cite references with the click of a button.  Here is a pdf file with instructions and screen shots for downloading, installing, and using Write-N-Cite.
  • Download Write-N-Cite from the URL below:
    • Write-N-Cite software 
      • Write-N-Cite III for Windows and Write-N-Cite v.2.5 for Mac are now available.  Write-N-Cite III for Windows is the only version of Write-N-Cite compatible with Microsoft Vista.  Click on the above Write-N-Cite software link for detailed information on how to install and work with WNC IIINOTE:  WNC III can be used on documents created with a previous version of Write-N-Cite.  The documents, however, must be converted to a WNC III format (which can be done within WNC III).
  • To configure Write-N-Cite to work from an off-campus computer there are additional steps.
    • PC instructions
    • Mac instructions
      • start Write-N-Cite
      • select prefences from the menu at the top left
      • select the proxy option
      • Paste the following proxy server URL in the blank: 
      • close and restart Write-N-Cite
      • NOTE:  You will be prompted to login to exproxy after you change this configuration.  Call the reference desk at (402) 280-5138 if you need assistance.
