Services for Alumni

Alumni are welcome to onsite access of the library and its physical and online collections. After 7 pm and on weekends you will need to ring the buzzer at the main entrance to be admitted. Call (402) 280-5109 if you have questions.

Borrowing Privileges

  • Alumni may check out print items, DVD's, CD-ROM's, cluster rooms, and VHS cassettes for free with an alumni library card. Apply for an alumni library card here.

Computer Privileges

  • Alumni may use the reference and LRC computers in the library. Ask a staff member to log you in. Once logged in you will be able to access all electronic resources from within the library.

The university libraries have licensed these databases for the use of Creighton alumni. Use the links below and login with your alumni guest card number and name.

  • Academic Search™ Alumni Edition is designed for the research needs of the post-college professional. The database provides full text for more than 3,350 journals as well as indexing and abstracting for more than 8,200 journals. The database offers information in nearly every area of academic study including biology, chemistry, engineering, physics, psychology, religion & theology, and more. Academic Search Alumni Edition also includes valuable peer-reviewed full text journals, offering critical information from many sources.
  • Business Source® Alumni Edition is designed for the research needs of the post-college professional. The database provides 1,450 full-text business magazines and journals, of which over 750 are peer-reviewed. This database includes publications in nearly every area of business including marketing, management, MIS, POM, accounting, finance, econometrics, economics and more. Business Source Alumni Edition includes full-text sources ranging from general periodicals to trade publications and top management journals. Additional full-text sources include country economic reports, industry reports, market research reports, company profiles and more.
  • Project Muse is a leading provider of digital humanities and social science content for the scholarly community.  Since 1995 the MUSE journal collections have supported a wide array of research needs at academic, public, special, and school libraries worldwide. MUSE is the trusted source of complete, full-text versions of scholarly journals from many of the world's leading university presses and scholarly societies, with over 120 publishers currently participating. UPCC Book Collections on Project MUSE, launched in January 2012, offer top quality book-length scholarship, fully integrated with MUSE's scholarly journal content.

Copy services

  • The circulation staff will send alumni a copy of items we own for $2 per article/chapter. The ILL staff will request interlibrary loan for articles we do not own, also for $2 per article/chapter. It may be cheaper to use a local public library or hospital library for interlibrary loan -- be sure to check.  Make a request from us here.

Reference services

  • The reference staff will provide mediated literature searches of any of the databases we normally search. There is no fee for this service. We will also answer simple reference questions via e-mail or over the phone. Ask a reference question.
