How do I prepare for the interview?

The interview is a vital part of the medical school application process and it is important to practice and prepare for each interview.  During the interview students should be prepared to discuss their interests, personal qualities, work, research, volunteer experience, activities, service and organizations they have been involved in during college.  They should also be prepared to answer the following:

-          Tell me a little bit about yourself

-          Why do you want to become a physician?

-          Why do you want to attend _______ medical school?

Students should research the medical school at which they are interviewing and know exactly why they would like to attend that particular school.  Students should also prepare two questions to ask the interviewer at the end of the interview.  Finally, a thank you note should be sent to the interviewer after the interview.  Practice interviews are available by appointment in the Career Center (280-2722).

Appropriate Dress for Men:

Appropriate Dress for Women:

Suit (pant suit or with a skirt suit, but the skirt must be just above the knee), blouse or shell, hose, closed toed shoes with a low heel, minimal jewelry, well groomed hair, manicured nails and no nontraditional piercings or perfume.
