UHC Well Deserved Award 2012
Creighton University has been honored by United Healthcare with the "Well Deserved" award for 2012, an annual honor given to employers who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to helping their employees improve their health and well-being by investing in work site wellness programs. Sixteen organizations were honored nationally.
Identified as important factors in the University's recognition were:
- A comprehensive wellness program that uses a health risk assessment and health screening data to prioritize the needs of the workforce and evaluate program success. Employees with two or more health risk factors are encouraged to participate in a 16-week behavioral change program that includes individualized support, education and resources.
- Offering tobacco cessation classes at no charge to employees and their spouses and providing discounts for tobacco cessation products.
- Free access for faculty and staff to campus fitness centers and exercise training to help develop the skills to live a healthier lifestyle.
- Seminars, health coaching, access to a dietitian, skill building challenges and healthy lifestyle/behavior change programs all support a culture of wellness year round.
