Prescription Hardship Program

This program is intended to help those who may have trouble paying for necessary prescriptions.  Review the UHC Prescription Drug List (PDL) at www.myuhc.com.  Drugs are not just categorized by generic, brand, and non-preferred brand, but instead are arranged in tiers based on therapeutic effectiveness and cost.  This tiering system helps to identify the overall healthcare value of a drug.  The CUMC Pharmacy is a great resource to review and suggest alternative medications that you can discuss with your physician.

Eligibility for the hardship benefit is dependent on all of the following factors:

  • The participant's income is less than $50K
  • If married, household income cannot exceed $85K per year
  • Prescribed a Tier 2 drug with no Tier 1 equivalent
  • Duration of prescription is 4 months or more
  • If cost of a 30-day supply is more than $150, co-pay is reduced to $25
  • Rx must be filled at CUMC Pharmacy
  • Participant must be enrolled in PPO1 or PPO2
  • Participation must be renewed annually

This program is not applicable to Tier 3 medications, and is subject to change at any time.  Contact the CUMC Pharmacy at 402-449-4560 with questions.
