Central to an education for global citizenship is the acquisition of knowledge and empathy in preparation for work among those who have different values, beliefs, and needs. The professional staff of the Office of International Programs leads a variety of cross-cultural workshops for the campus community?students, faculty and staff.
These cross-cultural workshops are regularly offered:
Study Abroad Pre-Departure Orientation: This workshop prepares students who are going abroad for a summer, semester or a year of studies abroad. It covers a variety of topics, including cross-cultural communication issues. Every Fall and Spring.
Project CURA Orientation: Cross-cultural preparation for medical students who travel abroad to volunteer in various health care facilities. Offered in the Spring.
Culture Shock Series: An activity for new Intensive English Language Institute students to help them better understand culture and adjust to their new environment at Creighton.
International Student Orientation: Every Fall and Spring, the OIP offers an extensive orientation to new freshman, transfer, and graduate students. The week-long orientation includes all aspects of life on campus and in the community at large.
