The IELI curriculum includes 28 core courses and 7 levels of proficiency in English, from high beginning to advanced.
IELI classes begin at 8:30 in the morning and run until mid afternoon. In all of the courses, students have homework assignments or projects to complete outside of class.
During the first three days of the term, students are tested to determine the most appropriate IELI level for them and activities that introduce them to life on campus and in Omaha are offered. At the end of each eight-week session, students are evaluated by their instructors and are promoted to the next level if they have made sufficient progress.
Full-time enrollment in IELI is 21 hours of instruction a week. On the recommendation of the IELI Instructors, outstanding students in Level 6 and 7 may receive permission to take one or more credit courses at Creighton University while enrolled in IELI.
