High-Intermediate Conversation
In this course, students improve speaking fluency through discussions of readings and multimedia sources on current topics. They apply effective conversation and discussion strategies and skills in a variety of general communication and academic speaking contexts, using appropriate target vocabulary, comprehensible oral grammar and vocabulary, and appropriate nonverbal behavior.
TOEFL Preparation
This course is designed to help advanced students prepare for the paper-based TOEFL examination. Students will learn English language skills and test-taking strategies necessary for each of the section of the paper version of the TOEFL. Students will monitor their progress through a pre-test and a post-test. Extensive practice exercises and practice tests that help build the student’s language skills and confidence will be provided.
CALL Lab
During Lab class students will:
- practice and reinforce language skills based on current English courses through a series of web-based shareware and textbook online supplemental materials
- receive necessary support in the use of Campus E-mail (Outlook), Blackboard, Word, PowerPoint, and other software as needed
- use the lab class time to complete teacher-directed projects from IELI courses
- seek guidance and support from Lab Instructor on instructional and technological issues.
