Encuentro Dominicano Application Instructions:
STEP 1: Complete the Encuentro Dominicano Online Application Form (DO THIS FIRST!)
Click on the link above to complete the online application. This should take you only 5-10 minutes to complete. After you have submitted the online application, you should begin working on the supporting documentation as outlined below.
Please submit ALL supporting documents TOGETHER to the OIP front desk. Please ask your reference writers to return their recommendation forms and/or letters to you in a sealed envelope, so that you can include them with your other application materials.
STEP 2: Acknowledgement Form
Print this form, read and sign (links below; pdf or Word). All eligible program participants under the age of 22, are required to have this form signed by a parent/guardian. Once complete, the ORIGINAL, SIGNED form (with original signatures from both the student and parent/guardian) should be dropped off to the OIP front desk (Harper 4036) or mailed to the address below. If it is not possible to return the completed, original form by mail or in-person, the form can be emailed directly to email@example.com (email must be received from the parent/guardian signing the form).
STEP 3: Statement of Purpose (1-4 pages, typed)
Drop off, or mail your essay to the OIP. We suggest that you turn in all supporting documentation at the same time. Your essay should address the following:
- Why you want to participate in the Encuentro Dominicano Program.
- Your personal and academic preparation for Encuentro Dominicano.
- Why service is an important part of your decision to apply for the program.
- The relevance of the program to your academic, personal, and professional goals.
STEP 4: Advisor Recommendation Form
Print this form, complete the top section, then ask your current academic advisor (RSP or major) to complete this remainder of the form. Even if you have not yet met with your advisor, he/she must complete this form. Please ask your advisor to return the form to you in a sealed envelope and include it with the other supporting documentation you submit to the OIP.
STEP 5: Letter of Recommendation
Print this form, complete the top section, then ask another reference person (of your choice) to complete the Letter of Recommendation (professor, mentor, supervisor, etc.). Choose someone who can speak about your interests, personal characteristics, and/or abilites that would make you a good "fit" for the Encuentro program. Please ask your reference to return the form to you in a sealed envelope and include it with the other supporting documentation you submit to the OIP.
STEP 6: Academic Transcript
Print your unofficial transcript from N.E.S.T. and include it with the other supporting documentation you submit to the OIP. If you are a student from another institution, please submit an official transcript from each institition you have attended.
STEP 7: Recent Photo
Submit a recent photo of yourself (in color; any size). This photo will not be returned to you. Please note, that this photo will be seen by the committee members who review your file, so be sure to select an appropriate photo. ID-style photos are encouraged. Write your name on the photo!
All application materials should be dropped off to the OIP front desk (Harper 4036) during office hours (M-F, 8:00a.m.-4:30p.m.) or mailed to:
