The general objective of this course is to familiarize the student with the basic concepts of nutrition, to understand and appreciate the role of nutrition in promoting optimal health and prevention of disease and to relate nutrition to the changing needs of individuals throughout the lifecycle. Emphasis will be placed on practical application of these concepts. There are no required prerequisites for this course - you will not be required to memorize chemical structures or biochemical pathways.
