Catherine M. Brooks
Professor of Law
Before joining Creighton's faculty Professor Brooks taught as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Seton Hall University School of Law. She has also been in private practice and served as an Assistant Deputy Public Defender for the New Jersey Department of the Public Advocate from 1983-1988 in its law guardian program. She is a co-founder of The Center for the Study of Childrens Issues, at Creighton University. She is an editor and co-author of The Nebraska Juvenile Court Procedures Manual and consults locally with child advocacy groups, family law practitioners, and a social service agency. She has published articles in Lawyers for Children, Behavioral Sciences and the Law, Criminal Behavior and Mental Health and the Creighton Law Review. She also authored The Laws Response to Child Abuse and Neglect in Law, Mental Health, and Mental Disorder. She is a member of the Nebraska Permanency Planning Task Force and the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Omaha. She was named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Omahans in 1994 and was appointed to the Nebraska Governors Commission on Juvenile Justice in 1997.
