Eric A. Chiappinelli

Eric A. Chiappinelli, Professor of Law, received a J.D. from Columbia University and a B.A. cum laude from Claremont McKenna College. He teaches and writes in the business law and nonprofits areas. Professor Chiappinelli has published numerous law review articles and a casebook on business entities (Second edition, Aspen 2010). His current research interests include Delaware corporate law, the economics of legal education, and nonprofit governance. He is an Elected Member of the American Law Institute, which comprises lawyers, judges, and scholars elected on the basis of their professional achievement and demonstrated interest in the improvement of the law. Before entering academia Professor Chiappinelli clerked at the United States District Court in Los Angeles and the Supreme Court of California. He practiced law in Los Angeles with Munger, Tolles, & Olson and Jones Day. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of California (inactive). He is currently a Professor of Law, was the Dean of the School of Law, and was also a senior University administrator. Prior to joining Creighton, he was a Professor of Law and an Associate Dean at Seattle University School of Law. He has been a visiting professor at Texas Tech University School of Law, Willamette University College of Law, and a Distinguished Visiting Professor and Fellow of the A.A. Berle Center for Corporations, Law & Society at Seattle University.
