Message from the Internal Medicine Program Director

Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Creighton University.

I am a proud graduate from our medicine program and I truly find Creighton to be a special place. Our program has a rich history built on Jesuit traditions, and we incorporate these values in the clinical training of our residents. Our goal is to foster the development of well-rounded physicians with excellent clinical skills, but equally as important, grow the qualities of empathy and compassion that allows one to care for the whole patient.

Our residents are provided with outstanding clinical training at our new academic facility, and care for a diverse patient population with a wide spectrum of conditions. We have a comprehensive educational curriculum, active research department with a multi-specialty committee that is dedicated to resident research and quality improvement projects, and a mentorship program that helps guide our residents from day one. Our graduates are well prepared for careers in general internal medicine or further subspecialty training. We have multiple in house fellowships, including those in the competitive fields of cardiology, interventional cardiology, pulmonary and critical care medicine, gastroenterology, infectious disease, and endocrinology; and many of our residents have chosen to continue their fellowship training and eventual academic careers at Creighton.

I am proud of the strong values of our program and the collegial, supportive atmosphere surrounding our residency. Our residents become part of our family, and the culture of our program is one of teamwork, respect, and genuine care amongst our staff and residents. I personally get to know each of our residents and I love seeing the growth that occurs, both as a physician and a person, over the three years they are with us. They continue to inspire me, and I am grateful for the privilege of leading this program.
