The Campus Ministry Internship (CMI) is a paid internship opportunity available to Creighton University students of at least Junior standing. CMI invites our participating students into a comprehensive experience of intellectual, spiritual and practical growth in learning about theology, spirituality and pastoral ministry. The internship is designed to deepen a student’s integration of academic work, service, and faith development within the context of the University.

2013-14 INTERNSHIPS
Campus Ministry offers three new and engaging internship opportunities for 2013-14! Each internship calls upon our students to make use of their specific gifts, reach beyond their lived experience and grow as women and men for and with others.
In addition to the internships below, all three interns will share several collaborative experiences and projects, such as the “Finding God in All Things” retreat, hospitality events, liturgies, and days of reflection and prayer gatherings with the Campus Ministry staff.
Justice Walking Internship
Justice Walking is a comprehensive, faith-based program that invites students to grow in the spirituality of justice as they journey together throughout the academic year. The program invites students to go deeper in their faith and explore social justice through experience, education, based on Catholic Social Teaching, and reflective understanding.
Our topic for the 2013-14 year will be human rights and our service component will be hospice.
The Campus Ministry intern helps facilitate many pieces of the program. Some of the tasks include:
- Planning part of the beginning training sessions for the JWalkers including a missioning service.
- Helping facilitate appointments and transportation for TB and drug testing for hospice.
- Planning bi weekly reflections
- Planning of Habitat for Humanity immersion (reflections/possible outings/logistics)
- Planning for speakers/educational pieces throughout year
- Planning for at least one “outing” spring semester- Lincoln, Ne (advocacy at Capital)
- Getting the word out via email, Facebook, website for upcoming Justice Walking applications.
- Interviews for the next year’s JWalking crew
Campus Ministry Outreach Internship
Responsibilities include outreach to students of the many faith traditions represented on campus. The intern will be involved with the planning and implementation of the following:
- Hospitality and outreach to student organizations of a religious nature
- Protestant worship service liaison for Campus Ministry, that includes regular Sunday evening worship and hospitality
- Inter-faith dialogue opportunities such as “Ravel/Unravel” or “Faith & Pizza”
- Inter-faith prayer opportunities, such as the Earth Day prayer service
- “Hearts on Fire,” an annual event that hosts a speaker who inspires students with her or his vocational story
Community Internship
The Community Intern will be challenged to use creative energy, savvy communication skills and personal invitation to develop creative methods of gathering and engaging students in online and face-to-face community. This intern will:
- Co-coordinate Campus Ministry’s face-to-face presence for student informational events (Involvement Fairs, Welcome Week, CU Sundays, Jay Days, Health and Wellness Fairs, Volunteer Fairs)
- Foster and maintain a consistent, timely and approachable online presence for Campus Ministry via social media, our department web page, and by researching additional online resources
- Meet with each member of staff to coordinate, review, assist in promotion and communication of events and program
