About Christine Basque Malloy
I have traveled a roundabout path to Creighton. As my two older brothers, younger sister and I were growing up in Omaha, the Creighton community never felt far away. Our parents, George and Rose Marie, had met and married at Creighton, so in a way, our family started here.
When I graduated from Mercy High School, I knew I wanted to attend a Jesuit university. I may never fully understand why I picked Boston College, but I am grateful for the four marvelous years I spent there. While I worked toward my B.A. in history and French literature, I was active in music ministry, and was a proud member of the Omaha Luncheon Club.
After B.C., I moved to Loyola University of Chicago to pursue an M.A. in public history, with a concentration in historic preservation. I put my preservation training to work for the Sherman Hill historic neighborhood association in Des Moines, and then for Landmarks, Inc. in Omaha. Then my career path took a turn toward the arts, and I spent a few years coordinating various programs for artists and arts organizations through the Nebraska Arts Council.
In February of 2003, my career path took another turn, and I joined the Campus Ministry team at Creighton. It's great to be part of a Jesuit campus community, and I'm glad to be of service to students, faculty and staff. When I'm not at Creighton, I cherish time spent with my wonderful husband, Sean, and I enjoy my different roles as friend, wife, mentor, daughter, sister, and aunt.
