About David Scholl
I was born and grew up in coastal New Jersey with my parents and younger sister. In my free hours, I enjoy spending time with my fiancée, reading, cooking, and listening to Latin alternative music and public radio podcasts. I root for the New York Yankees in MLB and the New England Patriots in the NFL--and of course our Creighton Bluejays in every sport!
For my undergraduate studies I attended Providence College in Rhode Island (Go Friars!), where I majored in Spanish and math. Then I entered the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and served as a legal assistant on behalf of Latino/a day laborers and domestic workers in San Francisco, where I became passionate about immigrant justice. Discerning a call to lay ministry, I began studies at Weston Jesuit School of Theology, which became part of the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, and I earned a Master of Divinity degree in 2009.
I worked as a chaplain at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Norton Healthcare hospitals in Louisville, KY, as a Clinical Pastoral Education intern and resident before I joined the Creighton Campus Ministry staff as the liturgy coordinator in December 2010. I have served as a liturgical minister in various capacities (altar server, lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, sacristan) almost continuously since grade school, and I am supremely grateful to have this opportunity to work as a professional liturgist, especially at a Jesuit university.
