About David Scholl
I was born and grew up in coastal New Jersey with my parents and younger sister. In my free hours, I enjoy spending time with my wife Ellen, reading, cooking, and listening to Latin alternative music and public radio podcasts. I root for the New York Yankees in MLB and the New England Patriots in the NFL--and of course our Creighton Bluejays in every sport!
I am an alumnus of (now) fellow Big East school Providence College in Rhode Island (where I majored in Spanish and math), the Jesuit Volunteer Corps (in which I served as a legal assistant on behalf of Latino/a day laborers and domestic workers in San Francisco), and the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry (where I earned a Master of Divinity degree, focusing on Scripture and liturgy).
I worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and at Norton Healthcare hospitals in Louisville, KY, as a Clinical Pastoral Education chaplain intern and resident before I joined the Creighton Campus Ministry staff as the liturgy coordinator in December 2010. I have served as a liturgical minister in various capacities (altar server, lector, extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, sacristan) almost continuously since grade school, and I am supremely grateful to have this opportunity to work as a professional liturgist, especially at a Jesuit university. I greatly value getting to know our students when I mentor a Campus Ministry intern or help a lector understand a Scripture reading a little better; I may not be in the classroom, but I hope I can teach students something here or there!
