Services provided are in-home consultation, support groups, equipment loan pool, and the Respite Care Voucher Program. Volunteers are needed throughout to visit patient families, deliver equipment, and help with awareness efforts, research opportunities, and office tasks.

Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event that mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones, and raise money for the fight against cancer. The Arc of Omaha’s mission is to improve and enrich the lives of people with developmental disabilities and to provide information, education, and support to their families. Some of the volunteer opportunities include: assisting with child care (for children with and without disabilities), serving dinner to our adult participants, coaching a basketball team, doing arts and crafts with children, teaching educational classes and socializing. Best Buddies Colleges, a program for college students, pairs people with intellectual disabilities in one-on-one friendships with college students (aka College Buddies). College Buddies and their Buddies must meet 2 times/month - one activity is individual, the other is a large group event. The pair also makes weekly telephone or email contact. Volunteers are needed to be Patient Companions. Receive 6-8 hrs of training on the history & philosophy of hospice and how to be helpful to patients & their families as they face terminal illness. Volunteers are always needed to read aloud, play games, play a musical instrument or just sit in silent support with patients and/or their families. Flexible schedules averaging 1 hr/wk with daytime, evening or weekend hours available. Office help is also needed to answer phones, file and help put together mailings. One hour or more per week between the hours of 8am & 5pm. Or groups can adopt one of our facilities to create seasonal craft items to cheer patients’ days.
