Spiritual Renewal

In 2002 we began our parish renewal Kick Off, with a Marti Gras Party. The key speaker Fr. Larry Gillick, S.J. spoke about the Society of Jesus, and what a parish renewal should consist of

St. John's sponsored presentation on , "The History of the Gothic Church", "The Stained Glass windows in St. John's Church", and "The role of a Jesuit parish" as described in decree 19, from the Documents of the Thirty-Fourth General Congregation of the Society of Jesus.

In the fall we began our Small Group Discussions on the past, present, and future of St. John's. Groups met in parishioners homes, and discussed a variety of questions and then we compiled all the information that came from our parishioners. "Fruits of our Discussions"

From the discussions our spiritual renewal grew the Adult Faith Formation program. We began our Adult Faith Formation with the introduction to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.

With the introduction of Adult Faith Formation we also changed our Mass schedule to accommodate the program. We went from 3 Sunday morning masses to 2, at 8:00 am and the other at 10:30 a.m., leaving time in between for Adult Faith Formation, or other types of Parish functions.

St. John's Parish had our first annual parish picnic in celebration of the life of St. Ignatius after the 5:00 p.m. Liturgy on July 31st.  We also had our first parish retreat in the fall.

St. John's parish has spent 3 years on the spiritual growth of the worshipping community. In January of 2005 the St. John's Building Renewal Committee was formed to begin the process of the renewal within the worshipping space at St. John's.
