Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration

"…When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at Last!  Free at Last!  Thank God Almighty we are free at last!"

Martin Luther King Poster and Essay Contest

The Martin Luther King celebration for 2007 will include a Poster and Essay contest for the "Adopt-a-School" partners, including Liberty Elementary, Conestoga Elementary, Kellom Elementary and Jesuit Middle School.

The fourth graders have been invited to submit a poster that portrays the theme, "Dr. King's Vision of Unity in the Community" The Essay contest, which is open to 5th graders with the theme, "What Can I do to bring Unity to my Community?"

Entries will be on display in the Reinert Memorial Alumni Library and the Skutt Student Center. Winners will be selected by Creighton students in the Education Department, and will be recognized at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration on January 15, 2007 on the campus. Prizes will be a shopping spree for the first and second place winners.

Student Leadership Award Nominations

Recognize an outstanding Creighton student by nominating them for the MLK, Jr Student Leadership Award by December 5, 2006.
