Thomas Svolos, M.D.

Acting Chairman & Adjunct Professor, Creighton University

Dr. Svolos received a BA in History, summa cum laude, from Duke University and an MD from the University of California, San Francisco. He has post-graduate medical training in Family Practice (at UCSF--Community Hospital) and Psychiatry, completing the Creighton-Nebraska Psychiatry Residency Training Program.
Dr. Svolos is a psychoanalyst and psychiatrist.  He is a Member of the New Lacanian School and the World Association of Psychoanalysis.  Dr. Svolos is Clinical Director of the Creighton Psychiatry Clinic, maintains a private office practice in psychoanalysis, and practices at Bergan Mercy Medical Center and Lasting Hope Recovery Center.  Dr. Svolos is Vice-Chair for Education for the Creighton Psychiatry Department.  He is a Member of the Circle for the Lacanian Orientation in Omaha.  He has given Lectures and organized Meetings and Conferences in Omaha, across the United States, and in Europe.  He serves on the Editorial Board of several different journals.
Dr. Svolos' writings on psychoanalysis and related subjects have appeared in numerous journals in English, French, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Hebrew, and Turkish.



















Steven Wengel, M.D.

Steven Wengel

Dr. Wengel was appointed Chair of the UNMC Department of Psychiatry in 2005.  He is an Omaha native and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  He completed his Psychiatry training in the Creighton-Nebraska Psychiatry Residency Training program, following which he became the first fellow in Geriatric Psychiary in the same program, graduating in 1991.  He has served on the UNMC faculty since that time.

Dr. Wengel is an enthusiastic teacher of medical students, physician's assistant students, and residents in Psychiatry and primary care specialties.  He previously served as Director of Medical Student Education and also served as a member of the UNMC College of Medicine Admissions Committee.  He currently has responsibility for three sections of the resident didactic program, and supervises residents on the Geriatric Psychiatry service and during weekly psychotherapy supervision sessions.

His clinical and research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of delirium and dementia, and mood disorders in older adults.  He also has a clinical focus on psychiatric co-morbidity associated with neuropsychiatric conditions including Parkinson's disease and frontotemporal dementia.

William H. Roccaforte, M.D.

William RoccaforteDr. Roccaforte is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a BA in Biology in 1976, an MA in Biology in 1978, and received his MD from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1983. He completed his residency in 1987 at UNMC in the Department of Psychiatry.

Dr. Roccaforte is currently Director of the Creighton-Nebraska Psychiatry Residency Program.
