Hastings is a primary healthcare center with more than 55 doctors who care for patients across Nebraska and northern Kansas. The College of Nursing campus is adjacent to Mary Lanning Heathcare. MLHeathcare is an accredited, non-profit 195-bed acute care facility offering 29 medical specialties. Its full range of hospital services includes specialty care in cardiac services, oncology, women's health, pediatrics, and behavioral health, plus a complement of outpatient, home health and wellness services.

Hastings is home to many cultural opportunities starting with a symphony orchestra, one of the nation's leading natural history and plains history museums, and a planetarium. Brickyard Park is the site of the Cottonwood Festival and concerts throughout the summer.

Whether you boat, swim, fish, hunt, hike or cross country ski, the Hastings area has lots of opportunities for fun. There are two lakes with public access, the nearby Platte River, and surrounding prairie areas filled with birds and other wildlife. Within the city, there are: 20 public parks covering 286 acres; soccer fields, basketball courts and tennis courts; three outstanding 18-hole golf courses; and a brand-new family water park. The cities of Omaha and Lincoln offer additional opportunities for concerts, culture, shopping and dining. Airports in both cities offer affordable air travel to and from the area.
