Nurse Practitioner Role Options

The adult, adult acute care, family, neonatal, pediatric, and adult behavioral health nurse practitioner plans of study prepare nurses with advanced health promotion, diagnostic, therapeutic management, and medication management knowledge and skills necessary to manage the care of individuals and families across the continuum of care.

The Family Nurse Practitioner Plan of Study prepares nurses with advanced knowledge and skills to manage the primary health care of individuals and families throughout the lifespan. This plan of study is 48 credit hours.  This includes 675 supervised clinical hours.

The Adult Nurse Practitioner Plan of Study prepares nurses with advanced knowledge and skills to manage the health care of individuals in primary or acute care settings. The adult nurse practitioner plan of study with a primary care focus is 44 credit hours.  This includes 675 supervised clinical hours.  The adult acute care nurse practitioner plan of study is 50 credit hours.  This includes 675 supervised clinical hours.

The Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Plan of Study prepares nurses for advanced practice within a variety of pediatric acute care settings.  Graduates of this program will be able to provide comprehensive assessments; diagnosis and treatment of acute pediatric health problems; education for patients and families; and collaboration with interdisciplinary services.  The pediatric acute care nurse practitioner plan of study is 49 credit hours.  This includes 675 supervised clinical hours.

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Plan of Study prepares nurses with advanced knowledge and skills to care for newborns in level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units. The neonatal nurse practitioner plan of study is 43-45 credit hours.  This includes 675 supervised clinical hours.

The Adult Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner plan of study prepares nurses with advanced knowledge and skills to manage the mental health care of adult clients.  The adult behavioral health nurse practitioner plan of study is 48 credit hours.  This includes 600 supervised clinical hours.
