For the past three-and-a-half years, and for the first time in its history, Creighton University has been led by one of its own.
When Timothy R. Lannon, S.J., was installed as University president on July 1, 2011, he brought a story that started on this campus full circle. Graduating from Creighton in 1973 with a degree in mathematics and having attained the highest student honor the University bestows, the Spirit of Creighton Award, Fr. Lannon began his career as an admissions counselor at the University and was subsequently ordained at St. John’s Church on campus in 1986.
His academic career took him to other prominent Jesuit institutions, including St. Joseph University and Marquette University, but Fr. Lannon remained ever mindful of and grateful for the start he received here, as a Bluejay. When Creighton’s last presidential search led to a man who commenced academic and priestly life here, the University found a committed builder of not only the intellectual and physical campus around us, but of the spiritual life to which Creighton remains singularly dedicated.
It is with his spirit of gratitude in action that the entire University community — faculty, staff, students and alumni — thanks Fr. Lannon for his tenure. As he prepares to depart the Office of University President on Jan. 20, 2015, we send with him every best wish for health, happiness and success in the future.
Dr. Chris Bradberry appointed

Serving in a transitional role for leadership is not new to Dr. Bradberry, who served as the interim vice president for academic affairs for eight months in 2013, prior to Dr. Edward O’Connor joining Creighton as the University’s first Provost.
